Myopred -
Influence of posterior vitreous detachment on retinal detachment after lens surgery in myopic eyes
After cataract surgery there is an increased risk of developing pseudophakic retinal detachment (RD). Especially myopic patients have an even higher risk of RD compared to the general population. The aim of this multicenter study is to document the presence and / or post-operative development of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) and to assess its influence on the incidence of retinal detachment in myopes in a time period of 3 and 5 years after lens surgery.

The optic nerve, a bundle of more than 1 million nerve fibers, connects the retina to the brain. A healthy optic nerve is necessary for good vision. Studies have shown that eye pressure is a major risk factor for optic nerve damage (for example the open-angle glaucoma) but also the blood pressure can influence the process of this disease.

Many factors influence the level of patient satisfaction
We are evaluating tools for the assess- ment of quality of life in patients before and after cataract surgery, as well as interactive methods to facilitate the informed consent process.
